About Alana

Thanks for visiting Alana Lee Designs!

Alana Lee was born in the West and raised in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. She has loved art since she started drawing on the walls at age two, and has loved words and language since she was in the single digits. Writing essays? Not so much. She received both a BS in Sociology cum laude and a Master of Organizational Behavior with high honors from Brigham Young University. Somewhere between learning Dutch and Flemish while living in Europe as a young adult and her first year of grad school, a miracle occurred: she began to love writing and got a job teaching freshman composition.

Her favorite job was teaching composition courses for seven years at San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico, where she received two teaching awards.

In addition to graphic design and teaching, she has experience as a freelance editor and writer. She has published two books:

  • Starlight Legend is a YA novel in the fantasy romance genre (available on Amazon and Apple Books), and
  • Mrs. Lee's Color Code Revision: A Visual Revision Strategy for Academic Essays is a nonfiction writing reference book to help students from middle school through college revise the content of their essays beyond grammar (also available on Amazon and Apple Books).

Alana enjoys writing silly rap songs, young adult fiction, children’s stories about unicorns and pigs, and material for advanced composition courses.

A few of her favorite things include peanut M&Ms, Swedish fish, teaching, and jeans. She currently resides near Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her husband, daughters, and any lizards friendly enough to hang out in her back yard.
