Candy Cane Poem Bookmarks

If you're looking for a cute, simple gift idea for teachers, students, or whomever, have I got something for you. I wrote this little poem about the symbolism of the Christmas candy cane.

The Symbolism of the Candy Cane
by Alana Lee
Turned upside down, the cane makes a “J”
for Jesus who was born on Christmas Day.
Turn it upright like the Good Shepherd’s staff
Who pleads to the Father on your behalf.
At the top you’ll see the saving crook,
Used on the lost sheep He never forsook.
The stripes whisper softly “By his stripes we are healed.”
And the red represents His blood that was spilled.
The white gives us hope to become pure as He,
by forsaking our sins, white as snow they will be.
The peppermint oil that flavors this treat,
is known for its strong healing properties.
Now each time you see the striped candy cane,
Remember, dear child, He calls out your name.

Just click on the image above and print it. Each poem should have a 1/4" border around the outside of the red box.

Make the Candy Cane poems in into festive bookmarks or gift tags! The printables are great for punching a hole, tying some ribbon, and attaching to a candy cane. Please Note: Don't trim the top and bottom edges so that you can punch a hole and tie it at the top (only trim edges on right and left).

Just click here for 5 per page or here for 8 per page to download the file and print. (I originally posted jpegs, but they weren't good enough quality for printing.)

Christmas Count-Down Sticker Calendar

Using stickers is a fun way to help your child count down the days until Christmas. Your child will enjoy being able to place a sticker on the right ornament each day.

I just buy the sticker books in the school/craft section of Walmart, and they fit the circles nicely. Or you could let your child cut out some construction paper ornaments to place over the numbers, or even just color in the circles with a crayon. (Just click on the image to view it full size and then print, or click here for a PDF.)

Merry Christmas!

Sticker Reward Charts

If you need a sticker chart to help your youngster develop good habits by doing chores, getting potty trained, staying in their room at night, etc., you'll love these FREE sticker charts. The black and white charts have spaces where you can write the task or goal.

The ABC Ice Cream chart is a perfect way to keep track of your child's progress with his/her alphabet and numbers. Have your child trace the letter/number after completing an activity, and then place a sticker over the letter/number that was practiced.

Check out this free Sticker Chart Big Pack with 24 pages of printable charts.

Learn to Read a Clock

If you need a practice clock to help your child learn to tell time, choose from the pink, blue, or generic clocks below. Simply click on the image to enlarge it and either save as or print. Then cut on the dotted line, cut out the hands, and affix clock hands in center of clock with a brad. Now practice, practice, practice. I originally designed this so my kids would know when their "timed" quiet time was up, so they don't come out every 15 minutes and yell downstairs, "Is quiet-time over yet?"

Your child can set their paper clock to the time you specify, and then they compare it with a real clock in their room.

Clean Room Charts

If you have a hard time getting your child to clean their bedroom, you need these charts.
Often children either need a lot of help and direction when cleaning or claim they can't clean by themselves because they don't know how. Most likely, they just don't know how to start cleaning. These charts are the perfect help by making cleaning bedrooms fun! Just turn cleaning into a game with these "Clean Room" charts.

Let your child choose which chart to use each time they need to clean their room. For the high-resolution six-chart file, click here. This file includes the following "Start Cleaning" charts: shapes, colors, categories, places to put things, what things are used for, as well as "The Clean Room Chart."
