Candy Cane Poem Bookmarks: "The Symbolism of the Candy Cane" by Alana Lee
It's easy to make festive bookmarks or gift tags with this candy cane poem using the FREE downloads below. They are great for punching a hole, tying some ribbon, and attaching to a candy cane. Please Note: Don't trim the top and bottom edges so that you can punch a hole and tie it at the top (only trim edges on right and left). Just click here for 5 per page or here for 8 per page to download the file and print. (I originally posted jpegs, but they weren't good enough quality for printing.)
The Symbolism of the Candy Cane
by Alana Lee
Turned upside down, the cane makes a “J”
for Jesus who was born on Christmas Day.
Turn it upright like the Good Shepherd’s staff;
He pleads to the Father on your behalf.
At the top you’ll see the saving crook,
Used on the lost sheep He never forsook.
The stripes whisper softly, “By his stripes we are healed.”
And the red represents His blood that was spilled.
The white gives us hope to become pure as He,
by forsaking our sins, white as snow they will be.
The peppermint oil that flavors this treat,
is known for its strong healing properties.
Now each time you see the striped candy cane,
Remember, dear child, He knows your name.
Inspired by the "J Is for Jesus" poem and "The Legend of the Candy Cane." © 2007-2014 Alana Lee. I don't mind if you share this poem for non-commercial uses, but please be honest and give credit.

Using stickers is a fun way to help your child count down the days until Christmas. Your child will enjoy being able to place a sticker on the right ornament each day.
